Research has shown that more than half of today’s Japanese High school students
feel they are lacking in self esteem.
This “illness of an advanced nation” is often the result of a “lack of communication”
within the society.
KATARIBA plays a vital role in helping to build self confidence
and career awareness of high school students who will become
our society’s future leaders.
KATARIBA provides career education classes lead by university student volunteers
(currently 4,000 registered volunteers).
The university students share their own life story with the high school students
and then listen to high school students’ personal,
academic and career concerns in order to give them advice on how to progress.
To enable KATARIBA to provide career education classes for high schools from
socio-economically disadvantaged areas
which are unable to afford the full amount to cover the cost of the class.
We would like to add at least an additional 10 seminars @ (500,000 yen / school grade).
This support would allow us to extend the KATARIBA program to more students who are most in need,
by enabling them time to discuss their concerns and realise they are not alone with their issues.
Additional funding means we can expand our meaningful platform which encourages
university students to engage with social issues through volunteering and
it will also improve the recognition of the program and expand our reach.
